About Arcos

Arcos Consultancy provides professional support and advice to a range of sectors within the construction industry. The project team comprises a number of experienced, highly qualified professionals whose skills overlap to enable us to assist in almost any aspect of a project. For specific areas where we do not have in-house experts - such as acoustics or mechanical and electrical engineering - we have close links with trusted professionals to allow us to provide a complete service.

In 2003 Arcos Consultancy Ltd was formed in the East Midlands, by director John Hemingway (who has worked for major contractors for over 40 years providing Professional Quantity Surveying services, estimating services and on site Contract Surveyor services). The company is registered as both a Chartered Consultancy (Chartered Institute of Building) and as Chartered Surveyors (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).

From the East Midlands office, Arcos employs one other surveyor and a trainee with clerical support, producing bills of quantity and schedules of work for architects and local authorities as well as estimating services for various medium to large contractors. Arcos have experience of D&B to a value of £6million, and Alteration and Refurbishment in most market sectors, including Heritage works to Listed Buildings and Ancient Monuments.

In 2005 an office in London was opened where two other Senior Surveyors and an Assistant Surveyor are employed. Currently Arcos carries out work for many valued clients, including providing consultancy services for The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, providing PQS services, including contract administration, valuations and other contract advice, with budgetary control prior to and during the contract. Arcos also carry out Party Wall work and produce Conservation Reports for various individuals and commercial organisations.

John Hemingway - Managing Director

John Hemingway is a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Builder having obtained a First Class Honors degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Building Conservation.

Bhavesh Patel - Project Surveyor

BHAVESH PATEL B.A.(Hons) Quantity Surveying Westminster University - Obtained Upper Class Honors Degree

Bhavesh has been working as a full time professional quantity surveyor since 2004. Since joining Arcos Consultancy, Bhavesh has worked as a Project Quantity Surveyor and Contractor Administrator on various educational projects. Bhavesh has carried out numerous cost planning exercises for various upcoming projects for LBTH. In conjunction with the general day to day duties, Bhavesh has been given the role of reworking LBTH's standard contractual tender information / documentation as well as assisting LBTH in compiling exhaustive Contract documentation for a number of projects.

Prior to joining Arcos Consultancy, Bhavesh has worked as an assistant and project quantity surveyor and project manager on various projects in residential, education, retail, commercial and hotel sectors in the UK and Overseas. This experience has been gained by working in a medium sized practice. To date Bhavesh has worked on a diverse range of projects and has gained valuable and essential skills in pre and post contract aspects of quantity surveying including cost planning, tender preparation and procurement, financial control, final account agreements and contract practice.

DAVID HOWSON - Project Surveyor

DAVID HOWSON BSc (Hons) Construction Business Management (Quantity Surveying) University of Greenwich - Obtained Upper Class Honors Degree

David is a Chartered Quantity surveyor and full Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has gained a comprehensive cost consultancy experience in a variety of contract types and projects valued between £30,000 and £500m. These projects have ranged in sector from Cultural and Assembly through to 1m sq ft Office Developments. In the UK he has worked within the Residential Specialist Sector which included contributing to Thought Leadership in the industry press, as well as providing detailed cost research and benchmarking to add value to our Residential Sector consultancy service. Whilst working for Davis Langdon David worked in the Santa Monica office based in Los Angeles, USA. There he worked on a number of projects in the Leisure, Health Care and Education sectors.
